Dubai Silicon Oasis, Society of Engineers sign deal

Alliance to encourage mutual cooperation and exchange of technical know-how

Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), the integrated free zone technology park, today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Society of Engineers (SoE UAE) to promote mutual cooperation and the exchange of technical know-how.

Under the agreement, DSO Authority (DSOA) and SoE UAE will work to ensure the adoption of best practices and international standards in engineering and construction. As part of its mandate to encourage young Emirati talent to join the engineering sector and facilitate the professional growth of employees, the two organisations will host training courses, workshops, seminars, conferences and continued education programmes.

Ganem Al Falasi, Senior Vice-President, Corporate Services, Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, said: “The agreement represents the growing aim of the two organisations to enhance the calibre of professionals and empower them to meet the challenges of implementing and maintaining the UAE’s state-of-the-art infrastructure that is acclaimed worldwide. The partnership will also enable DSOA to share best practices with the SOE UAE and benefit from its expertise.”

Engineer Essa Al Maidoor, president of SOE-UAE, said: “The agreement with Dubai Silicon Oasis is a significant step towards best engineering practices, which will allow us to transfer technical and specialised expertise in all their engineering sectors through our global connections with technical international organisations. SoE strives to develop the expertise of all engineers through transferring knowledge and developing qualifications by adapting best practices, standards and specifications in all engineering disciplines which allows DSO to benefit from SoE expertise.”

SOE- UAE was established in 1979 to provide excellent services to the engineering sector by accrediting their qualifications to practice in the UAE. SOE is a semi-government sector & a non-profit organisation that strives to provide great services to its 32,000 members.

SOE’s vision: “National Pioneering to engineers, gulf extension, international contact and an engineering reference for the public and private sectors”.It is recognised by the ISO – 9001:2008 and became a member of Arab Engineers Federation in 1984, World Federation Engineering Organisation in 1985 and Gulf Engineering Union in 1986.

A wholly-owned entity of the Dubai government, Dubai Silicon Oasis operates as a free zone technology park for the semiconductor, microelectronic and other high technology-based companies looking to set up their regional headquarters and research and development facilities in the Middle East and Africa region.
