The Dubai Healthcare City Authority (DHCA), under the guidance of its
Chairperson Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, wife of His Highness Shaikh
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE
and Ruler of Dubai, announced the board of directors for its new home-grown
academic institution Dubai School of Dental Medicine (DSDM).
Princess Haya has appointed a high-profile Board of Directors to head the
Dubai School of Dental Medicine steered by Chairman, Professor Sehamuddin
Galadari.
Professor Galadari has a glittering track record on the boards of iconic
institutions like the UAE University, Emirates Foundation, the Research
Advisory Board of the Dubai Harvard Foundation for Medical Research and many
more.
Professor Galadari’s extensive experience in the field of academia and
research will support the DSDM in its vision to become a premier dental
academic institution built on the philosophy of life-long learning and
innovation.
Other members of the board are Dr Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chief Executive
Officer of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Academic Medical Centre; Dr
Tariq Khoory, Director of Dental Services at the Dubai Health Authority and
Dr Ibtesam Bastaki, Head of the Health Section at the Prime Minister’s
Office. In addition, the board will have a host of standing members ranging
from dental academic experts, financial advisors and governance and
compliance experts. The board will be responsible for setting the strategy,
overseeing implementation and ensuring strong corporate governance.
The school has appointed a globally-acclaimed Dean, Professor David Wray.
The veteran educator is acknowledged as one of the world’s foremost experts
in the dental arena and brings four decades of experience to Dubai School of
Dental Medicine.
The Dubai School of Dental Medicine, an institution of the Mohammed bin
Rashid Al Maktoum Academic Medical Centre, will offer a number of Master of
Science dental degrees with its first intake of students commencing in
January 2013.
