President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his government
have spared no effort to provide UAE diplomatic missions abroad with
necessary resources and potentials to deliver the country's humanitarian
message of mutual respect, peaceful co-existence, openness and of building
balanced relations with other countries and maintaining UAE's reputation
overseas, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President
and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, affirmed.
Welcoming ambassadors and representatives of UAE to sisterly and friendly
countries and international organisations at Zabeel Palace, Sheikh Mohammed
credited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spearheaded by Sheikh Abdullah bin
Zayed Al Nahyan, for its consistent contacts and consultations with other
countries of the world on regional and international issues of mutual
concern, particularly those serving regional and international peace.
"You are representing your State, leadership and people in host countries
with whom the UAE maintains bonds of friendship and fraternity... as
ambassadors to your country and leadership, your responsibilities and duties
towards UAE citizens abroad are to assist students, patients and businessmen
and make sure they are safe and comfortable," the Vice-Presideny said while
addressing the diplomats.
"Your diplomatic work is not only confined to official and social courtesy
and cultivating relations with officials of host countries... you should
reach out to representatives of public and private sectors from investment
and financial companies to businessmen and others to market the UAE
credentials and its available potentials for building humanitarian and
cultural bridges and then fostering cooperation in areas of economy,
investment, tourism, health and sports," Sheikh Mohammed added.
Lauding achievements made by the UAE diplomacy, Sheikh Mohammed urged the
ambassadors to maximise their efforts so as to achieve more gains, which he
said, serve the nation and raise its standing at regional and international
circles.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said he and
his ministry staff were proud to heed instructions of Sheikh Mohammed,
affirming that they will always remain open to guidance from President His
Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and support and follow up from
Sheikh Mohammed in order achieve the highest aspirations of the wise
leadership for cultivating good relations between the UAE and other
countries based on mutual respect, trust and interests.
