Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid tours UAE Space Agency's stand at Dubai Air
Show
Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum today toured the UAE Space Agency Stand at
the Dubai Air Show.
The show was inaugurated today by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and His
Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and
Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. The show will be run until
12th November at the Dubai World Central Exhibition Center at Al Maktoum
Airport.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed was welcomed by Dr. Khalifa Al Rumaithi, Chairman of
the UAE Space Agency, and Dr. Mohamed Nasser Al Ahbabi, Director-General of
the agency.
The officials briefed His Highness about the agency's future plans and
current initiatives undertaken within the context of its mandate to regulate
and develop space industry in the country.
His Highness also attended a briefing on the agency's participation in the
Dubai Air Show where it has the opportunity to introduce itself to the
global community to enable an exchange of experience and knowledge with the
world leaders in this domain.
The agency's higher officials also explained, in the presence of His
Highness, the efforts being undertaken to spread awareness of the role,
activities, and most prominent achievements of the agency at a global level.
This was done especially in the context of the ground breaking initiatives
it is launching, such as "Hope Probe", the agency's contribution to space
science and a cornerstone in scientific research regarding the Red Planet.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid also attended the launch of the first issue
of "Madarat" (orbits in Arabic), the agency's specialised magazine.
He also attended the launch of "My Spaceship", the agency's UAE-wide
competition aimed at promoting students' involvement in activities raising
their awareness about the space industry.
