Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, meets with Klaus
Schwab, founder of the World Economic Forum, in Dubai.
Preparing for a future when industries are altered by new technologies
was the focus of a meeting on Sunday between Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and
the founder of the World Economic Forum.
The Vice President and Ruler of Dubai met with Prof Klaus Schwab, who is
also the co-chairman of the Global Future Councils, at Madinat Jumeirah
hotel. They reviewed global developments, advances in technology and
government efforts to keep pace with the ‘fourth industrial revolution’,
reported the state news agency, Wam.
They discussed how these trends are redefining industries, with developments
in artificial intelligence, driverless vehicles, 3-D printing and the
"internet of things" – the concept of devices being connected through the
internet.
Prof Schwab, who is in Dubai for the World Economic Forum Global Future
Councils inaugural summit, said the UAE’s approach to development has earned
it a notable global standing in building the future.
Also in attendance were Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed, Chairman of Dubai Civil
Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group; Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed
bin Rashid, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation; Sheikh
Mansour bin Mohammed; Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and
The Future and Co-chairman of the Global Future Councils, and Khalifa Saeed
Sulaiman, Director-General of Dubai’s Protocol Department.
