India's Larsen & Toubro explores more projects in building GCC
infrastructure
With the India-UAE business relations constantly evolving, Larsen Toubro – a
$16 billion technology, engineering, construction, projects, manufacturing
and ?nancial services conglomerate, seeks to play a wider role in
implementing more infrastructural projects in India and the GCC countries
according to D.K. Sen, senior executive vice-president (infrastructure) of
Larsen & Toubro- L&T.
At present, the company is implementing projects worth approximately $8
billion across the six-nation GCC region.
While participating in a session titled ‘Connecting India’ at UAE India
Economic Forum 2016 which was held at Jumeirah Mina A’Salam hotel recently,
Sen said that there is huge investment scope of UAE in Infrastructure
projects in roads, railways, waterways, ports in India.
“We have a strong presence in 27 countries. We are constructing Mega
projects metro rail systems for Riyadh, Qatar and major Indian cities. We
have done several important road projects in Oman, Qatar & UAE. Also L&T has
done Salalah airport & most of the Indian airports in India. Infrastructure
projects including bridges and highways in Jordan and Malaysia,” Sen said on
the sidelines of the forum which was hosted by the Consulate General of
India in Dubai and supported by the UAE Ministry of Economy.
The event, which was jointly inaugurated by Nitin Gadkari, India’s Minister
for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping and Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed
Belhaif Al Nuaimi, UAE Cabinet Member and Minister of Infrastructure
Development, attracted a number of high profile dignitaries, government
officials and business leaders from both countries.
The two-day forum featured multiple sessions covering various industry
topics including investments, infrastructure, transportation and real
estate.
