UAE firms beef up hiring of UAE nationals
Banks, insurance companies have recently opened more than 1,000 positions in
UAE
Private sector companies in the UAE have increased the hiring of UAE
nationals this year, as the government speeds up the implementation of its
Emiratisation agenda.
In only a little over two months, close to 1,000 new workers have been hired
by financial and banking institutions in the UAE.
At least 36 banks, 39 insurance companies and 36 exchange and finance houses
in the UAE have opened a total of 1,026 job vacancies so far this year.
Out of the new job offers, 914 positions were allocated to 914 Emirati men
and women and the majority have already started working, according to Saqr
bin Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Ministr of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
The local residents have been recruited through Government Accelerators, a
state-run initiative that was launched in 2016 to speed up the
implementation of the National Agenda of the UAE Vision 2021.
Companies in the UAE have been encouraged to support the UAE government’s
Emiratisation drive, with a number of them saying they are in the process of
expanding their Emirati workfoce.
“UAE nationals currently constitute 11 per cent of our workforce, some of
which have been in the company for more than nine years,” said Rashed Ali Al
Ansari, general manager of Al Ansari Exchange.
“We are currently working on increasing the number of our national employees
at higher organisational levels to increase their job satisfaction and
loyalty to the workplace,” he added.
Ghobash said they are again reminding other employers to support the
Emiratisation programme. “We remind other companies and establishments,
which have achieved nothing yet in this regard, that [the Dubai ruler] wants
the private sector to shoulder its responsibility in the process of
Emiratisation and take part in the development of this generous country,”
said Ghobash.
“The banks and financial institutions, which employed the Emirati men and
women through the Government Accelerators, proved that they are serious
about undertaking their social and national responsibilities and their role
in achieving Emiratisation,” a statement from WAM quoted Ghobash as saying.
