Mohammed visits City Walk Dubai

Examined unique design of green buildings
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed visited City Walk after the completion of Phase 2 of the project.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited City Walk, the newest addition to Dubai’s development, after the completion of Phase 2 of the project.

Sheikh Mohammed congratulated the staff of Meeras Holding, developer of the project, on the achievement. He stressed the importance of working continuously to provide a safe and joyful life for people in the country through development, tourism and entertainment projects, which serve as an ideal meeting point for different cultures in the UAE as the land of peace and tolerance.

He was accompanied by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai; Abdullah Ahmed Al Habbai, Chairman of Meraas Holding Group and Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Head of Dubai's Protocol and Hospitality Department.

He toured the development, stretching over an area of 10 million square feet along Safa Street.

While there, he examined the unique design of the green buildings and more than 200 shops, restaurants, cafes and cinemas, in addition to a five-star hotel and Valiant Clinic, an outpatient facility.

Sheikh Mohammed also toured the indoor and outdoor parts of the new development, including plaza spaces, a mosque and green areas between some 34 blocks.

Al Habbai briefed Sheikh Mohammed on the Green Planet, the region’s first bio-dome recreating the captivating world of a tropical forest with rich biodiversity of a large number of plants and animals, and on the indoor children’s play area.

The two facilities will open during the first half of 2016.
